(SINL NIGERIA) The Office of the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru has clarified online reports that inaccurately claimed the Minister lost his polling unit during the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday.

A statement on Sunday by the Minister’s office, said contrary to an online report, Badaru voted at Babura Kofar Arewa Primary School — Polling Unit 002 (PU 002).

According to the statement, “the official results from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) show a clear victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at PU 002, with 188 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 164 votes”.

Additionally, the statement  categorically rejected the reports circulating online that misidentified the polling unit as PU 001 and wrongly claimed the Minister lost his polling unit. “Such reports are deemed false and misleading”. It added.

The statement however urged the public, party members, and the media to rely solely on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC’s) official declarations and disregard the spurious claims.
