The Senator Representing Plateau North, Senator Pam Dachungyang has said recent appointment of individuals from North Central geopolitical zone into key positions by President Bola Tinubu was divine intervention and not compensation or correction of alleged past injustice.
It would be recalled that the Tinubu’s administration appointed Lt.Gen. Waidi Shuaibu as Army chief, Professor Joash Amupitan, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and elevated Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) and now Dr. Bernard Doro as minister of the Federal Republic all from the North Central.
But Senator Dachungyang on Thursday in Abuja disagreed that these appointments were compensation to the North Central geopolitical zone.
Briefing newsmen on the appointments, particularly, the confirmation of Dr. Doro as minister, the lawmaker said “Well, appointments have been made, whatever parameters was used, nobody can say, this is it, and this is the format they use to select who are beneficiaries of whatever positions.
“What I have realized is that if something happens to you, just praise God. If you have been cheated still, thank God, because one day you will still benefit”.
He added “Now with these positions you have mentioned, they are not as high as the president of the country, is not as big as the vice president”.
Senator Dachungyang, a member of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) added “So it is not a pride or something that you will say that we were lucky. No, we should just thank God that it came to us”.
The lawmaker however applauded the appointment of Dr. Doro, saying “we witnessed the screening of Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro, who happens to be my constituent, he is from Basa local government, and the plateau North senatorial district comprises of six local governments.
“We are very happy about it that someone from our constituency was found worthy by the president through whatever means, or I will say, assessment they make, and chose him”.
Commenting on the issues of displaced persons in Plateau state, the senator threw his weight behind the new minister, saying he will collaborate with him to tackle the challenges.
