FG provides intervention to flood victims in Jigawa

Federal government has flagged off the distribution of relief materials to flood victims, who lost their farms and houses in Jigawa state.

The event was held on Thursday, at the Manpower Development Institute in Dutse, by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Investment, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk.

She said “upon receiving the news of the unfortunate incident, President Muhammad Buhari directed my ministry to activate National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to join hand with State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), to asses and respond immediately”.

She noted that seven LGAs of Hadejia, Kafinhausa, Balangu, Birniwa, Kiri – kasamma, Kaugama and Malam-madori were identified as the most affected communities.

The Minister however appealed to authorities concerned, particularly the state and local governments to extend their support to the victims.

Farouk also flagged off the federal government cash grant to vulnerable groups in Jigawa state. 
She said about 5,000 vulnerable persons will benefit from the grant across 27 local government in the state.

She explained that the cash grant of 20,000 each, is one among many federal government programmes that uplifted about 100 million Nigerians from poverty.

She however urged the beneficiaries to boost their business accordingly to make their lives better.
