Jigawa: Agency evacuates waste, clears drainages in Dutse metropolis

Determined to maintain a healthy and clean environment in the state capital Dutse, Jigawa state Government has cleared over 37,000 metres long drainages, culverts and waterways.

Speaking to reporters over the weekend in Dutse, the Managing Director of Dutse Capital Development Authority (DCDA), Mr Sale Abubakar said, that the exercise is necessary and timely.

“All the waste generated from the exercise was evacuated and disposed during the operation, designed to enhance sanitation in the city”, he stressed.

He explained that the agency has sensitised the people on the need to keep the environment clean and promote good sanitation habits.

Also commenting, the Special Assistant to the state Governor, on Urban renewal and Development, Mr Najib Falalu-Gantsa said the exercise was part of the state government’s proactive measures to promote effective waste management and sanitation.

Gantsa said the exercise was conducted in collaboration with the state government, communities and self-help groups respectively.

He advised the citizenry to take their wastes to the appropriate and designated disposal centres across the city and stop indiscriminate dumping of waste in residential areas and waterways.
