The Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Muhammed Badaru Abubakar on Friday refused to honor the commissioning ceremony of a new 2 x 60 MVA, 132/33KV transmission sub station at Gagarawa local government area of  the state.

The event, which had the Minister of power Eng. Sale Mamman in attendance was reportedly boycotted by governor Badaru.

The project commissioning was scheduled to hold by 10 am of Friday at the Gagarawa local government area, could however not hold even as many invited dignitaries were kept waiting.

Apparently tired of waiting, Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed Sani angrily left the venue. Other local government chairmen who were also tired of waiting left in annoyance.

Findings by SINL Nigeria Online, revealed that the governor was neither contacted by the minister nor his protocol team over the commissioning programme until Thursday evenings.

This development according to our source at the government house allegedly prompted the governor not to grace the occasion to ‘teach’ the minister a lesson.

The minister was later spotted at the government house, in Dutse to plead with the governor.

Further checks revealed that the refusal of the governor to attend the event despite pleadings by the minister, led to the postponment of the event to a later date.
