Kaura Namoda South Bye-Election in Zamfara: Police Impose Movement Restrictions

(SINL NIGERIA) Ahead of Saturday’s 16th August, 2025 state constituency bye election in Kaura Namoda south, the Zamfara state police command has restricted movement in the area.

This was declared by the State  Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba. 

Briefing newsmen at the Police Command Headquarters in Gusau,  Maikaba said the restriction, which will last from midnight to 6:00pm on election day, is aimed at allowing security personnel to effectively manage operations and guarantee safe and peaceful atmosphere for voters.

The Commissioner also said that all non-federal security bodies  including the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG), ZAROTA, Vigilantes, Yansakai, Hunters and similar groups are restricted from participating in any form of the electoral process, in compliance with Section 91(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).

Maikaba however cautioned that anyone caught flouting the order will be prosecuted.
