(SINL NIGERIA) The Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Dr. Tony Ojukwu has mourned the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
In a statement on Monday personally signed by the Executive Secretary, Ojukwu extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late president, the government, and people of Nigeria.
According to the statement “President Buhari will be remembered for his significant contributions to advancing human rights and justice in Nigeria.
“Notably, his administration strengthened the Commission’s capacity through increased budgetary allocation and special intervention funds.
“He also approved National Action Plans for Business and Human Rights and Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, demonstrating his commitment to human rights for all Nigerians.
“His efforts to ensure relative peace and security in the North East, particularly in reducing insurgent threats and restoring normalcy to conflict-devastated communities, will not be forgotten.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family and the nation find comfort during this moment of mourning. His patriotic service and sacrifice for Nigeria’s unity, peace, and progress will be remembered”.
