Senator Joseph Ikpea (APC, Edo Central) has emphasized that job creation and economic inclusion are crucial for tackling insecurity and youth unrest.
Specifically, the lawmaker has suggested the establishment of regional seaports in Calabar, Warri, and Sapele to ease pressure on Lagos ports, boost local economies, and curb unemployment.
This comes as he urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
Senator Ikpea, made the disclosure recently while briefing newsmen in Abuja.
He said “When young people have jobs, crime and kidnapping will reduce naturally. Economic empowerment is the best security strategy”.
Commenting further on the Tinubu’s administration, Senator Ikpea opined that the president met a decayed infrastructure, pointing out that there are ongoing efforts to fix roads, boost productivity and stabilize the economy.
On the gale of defection, the Edo Central lawmaker allayed fears that Nigeria will drift into one party state.
He added “there is freedom of association, nobody is forcing anybody to join any party. Our laws allow zero party candidates to contest elections, it is a matter of choice”.
