(SINL NIGERIA) Mr. Omhonria Fidelis, the father of a two-year-old boy, Onosereba Omhonria, killed by stray bullet during a raid by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Asaba, Delta State has locked Horns with the NDLEA.
It would be recalled that the incident occurred during an operation by the NDLEA.
Specifically, Onosereba’s younger brother, Eromonsele though survived it, but was hit by a bullet in the eye, resulting in the loss of his sight.
Efforts to get N200 million compensation as directed by the Nigerian Senate and full responsibility for Eromonsele’s medical treatment has been frustrated by the NDLEA.
Consequently, the Nigerian Senate, through its committee on legislative compliance, on Thursday, summoned the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to appear before it on the 28th of October, 2025.
According to the chairman of the committee, Senator Garba Maidoki, the summon is seeking for details why the NDLEA has failed to comply with parliamentary directive.
The committee bemoaned the deteriorating health condition of Onosereba’s younger brother, Eromonsele.
Briefing newsmen shortly after meeting family of the boy, Maidoki said “we had a discussion with the parents and they said the NDLEA is yet to communicate with them, and the eye condition of the second child is deteriorating fast.
“So we have scheduled a meeting with the NDLEA for the 28th of October to explain to us why no action has been taken from that date till now”.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker added that the committee will brief the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to enhance President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention.
