(SINL NIGERIA) An Islamic scholar in Zamfara State, Sheikh Tukur Jangebe, has appealed to the State government to urgently rehabilitate the Maru–Mayanchi–Maradun junction road to curb banditry.

Jangebe stated this in an interview with newsmen in Gusau, the State capital.

According to the cleric the bad condition of the road, has slowed traffic and exposed travelers to attacks by bandits.

.“I am using this opportunity to call on the federal government, through the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently carry out emergency minor repairs on the road to ease the suffering of the people who travel on it daily”, he said.

The Islamic scholar maintained that the rainy season has worsened the road, creating more potholes and increasing dangers.

He urged the Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto state Governors to jointly rehabilitate critical sections of the road at the interim.

Sheikh Jangebe however urged the Federal Ministry of Works and contractors handling the project to fast-track the completion of the road.
