The state Director of the National Population Commission (NPC), Jigawa state, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed said that the commission has concluded plans to educate the citizens, on the importance of the 2023 Census.
Speaking on the importance of the census to be conducted in April 2023, the Director told reporters on Wednesday that, the citizenry in Jigawa state are fully sensitized on why they should submit themselves to be counted.
He said the importance of conducting population and housing census in Jigawa state and Nigeria in general, is to know the real size of the population, to help the policy makers plan.
He explained that if the exercise is conducted successfully, “policy makers in the states and at national level, will plan their programmes and design their budgets according to the number obtained from the accurate census”.
He added “the road walk show” carried out on the streets of Dutse, Jigawa state capital is aimed at re-awakening the populace and let them know that the forthcoming exercise is a serious one that need everybody’s support.
He further added that the categories of the ad-hoc staff to be recruited to carry out various field operations must be graduates, “Degree and HND holders”.
“The ad-hoc staff to be recruited are to be deployed as Enumerators, Supervisors, and Coordinators. They are going to be recruited from the 27 LGAs of Jigawa state”, he concluded.
