2023: Police Disperse APC Supporters in Jigawa

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Youth Supporters group, under the aegis, “Dan Modi Concern Youth” on Tuesday disagreed while sharing campaign logistics during a mini rally held in Dutse, Jigawa state capital.

The rally meant to express support for the APC’s Governorship candidate, had to be dispersed by the police when it turned violent.

The Police Public Relations officer DSP Lawal Shiisu who confirmed the incidence to newsmen said supporters of APC had a disagreement among themselves and began to fight one another.

According to him, the Donmodi Youth Concern intended to show support to the governorship candidate, Umar Namadi in the state.

He said the concern youth intended to match to the orphanage in Dutse the state capital to donate relief materials to the orphans.

He said, “fight erupted between them and the police had to mobilize and intervene to put a stop to the unruly behavior”.

One of the members of the Danmodi Youth Concern said the fight erupted while distributing some campaign materials at the meeting point of the rally.

“They began distributing materials to some people and they didn’t give others, that was why some people especially those that came from far become angry”, he added.
