Army troops in the north west under operation Hadarin Daji has intercepted 12 trucks loaded with suspected rustled cows.
The troops also arrested 44 collaborators at Magami and Jangeme areas in Zamfara State.
Addressing newsmen on Friday while handing over the suspected rustled cows, to Zamfara State government, the Deputy force commander operation Hadarin Daji North west, Air commander Abubakar Abdulkadir said the suspects were arrested following a tip off with 155 cows,1 camel and 1 ram.
Air commander Abdulkadir disclosed that 155 cows, 1camel and 1 ram were intercepted shortly after they left kasuwar Yartasha in Magami and Jangeme area of Gusau local government in Zamfara State.
According to him, 12 vehicles loaded with the suspected rustled cows and 44 collaborators were arrested while conveying the animals to their destination.
“Following a tip off, 5 vehicles loaded with the suspected rustled cows were intercepted at Magami, 7 at jangeme with the drivers of the vehicles”.
He maintained that “we discovered that the cows were sold between Thirty thousand to fourty thousand naira(N30,000 –N40,000) depending on size”.
Air commander Abdulkadir revealed that men and officers of the operation Hadarin Daji would continue to be more aggressive in fighting banditry activities in the north west, “we would not relent on our efforts of safe guiding the lives and properties of every citizen in the region”.
Also speaking during the handing over of the suspected rustled cows, the Zamfara State committee chairman on recovery of rustled and stolen cows Dr Aliyu sani Jangebe through the committee secretary Bashar Mailafiya said the 155 cows, one camel and one ram were received and would look for rightful owners.
He said the committee normally pass Information through radio for the rightful owners to come and identify their animals follow with relevant evidence before the final hand over to the owner.
