Zamfara Speaker tasks journalists on ethics

The speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly Nasiru Mua’zu Magarya has urged media practitioners to be more professional and adhere to the ethics of journalism.

Honourable Mu’azu Magarya stated this when he played host to the new leadership of the Correspondent Chapel, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Zamfara state Chapter in Gusau. 

According to him, the media have a great role to play in educating and sensitizing the general public on the programes and policies of government.

He maintained that legislative arm of Government is committed to work with the media to deliver good governance and positive legislation. 

“As eyes and ears of the society, the media have a great role to play in informing the generality of the people of the happenings within their domain.


”We as legislators will redouble our efforts and work closely with the people to be able to deliver on our mandate.


 “I congratulate correspondent Chapel executives for emerging victorious at the just concluded chapel election, I advice you all to use your vast experience and report stories as it is, especially regarding the affairs of the assembly and state in general, most especially as we are working tirelessly to end the over a decade banditry we inherited ” Magarya added.

The speaker congratulated the newly elected officials and urged them to be fair and just in their stewardship and also carry every member of the chapel along, saying leadership comes with alot of responsibilities
