Jigawa state and local government contributory pension scheme has commenced payment of retiring benefits to state, local government and other retirees.
Addressing newsmen on Tuesday, the Executive Secretary Pension Board, Hon. Hashimu Ahmad Fagam said, the payment will cover those who retired or died between April and August this year.
He said, a total of 534 retirees would receive N872.7 Million and N295.7 million as death benefits for the family of 130 workers who died on active service, while N51.3 million will be paid as death pension balance for 49 workers and refund of 8% contribution to 12 workers amounting to N2.7 million.
The Executive Secretary stated that, the payment of workers entitlement is up to date and reassured workers that, the board will continue to ensure timely payment of their entitlements.
He thanked the state governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for his passion and support to the board.
“Today we are proud of being a reference point in terms of pension fund administration in Nigeria,” he said.
He then urged the beneficiaries to properly utilize the funds and improve their lives and that of their families.
