President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ( ICAN) Mrs Comfort Olu Eyitayo has charged Chartered Accountants to be proactive to recover and build a resilient economic footings for the country.
Speaking at the weekend while inaugurating the Jigawa District Society of ICAN officials, and the state Secretariat at the Multi purpose hall of the state Polytechnic in Dutse, the ICAN boss urged the new state ICAN Executives to be accountable and transparent in the discharge of their responsibilities, saying true leaders are tested in difficult situation.
“The demands on us as professionals at all time is to lead in the efficient management of financial resources. As Coronavirus ( Covid-19) pandemic has impacted negatively on revenue generation of most of our organizations both in public and private sectors; as economic experts, you are expected to play a greater role in the path of recovery and building more resilient economic base for our collective good”
According to Eyitayo, the challenges currently facing the country afford leaders with clear vision the opportunity to display their ability to overcome challenges and produce good result.
She added “my counsel to you and your team is to leverage the experience and potentials at your disposals so as to achieve your desire goals and aspirations”.
Similarly, Jigawa state Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar represented by the state Commissioner of finance, Hon. Babangida Tukur Gantsa, commended the foresight of ICAN Executives in floating the Dutse District Society of ICAN, stressing that it is a remarkable success which calls for the state government patronage and support in all ramifications.
“Government will continue to render support where necessary to Jigawa branch of ICAN, to further enhance accounting profession for optimum quality service delivery”.
In his acceptance speech, the Jigawa District ICAN Chairman, Dr. Ishaq Samaila pledged to be loyal, support and implement all ICAN noble ideals objectively for the growth and development of the Institute.
Those inuagurated were, Dr. Ishaq Samaila Chairman, Fatima Mustapha Gana, Vice Chairman, Sani Ahmad Sulaiman, General Secretary, Umar Farouk Gambo, Treasurer, and Umar Idris Abdullahi, Technical Secretary of the Jigawa ICAN District Society.
