The Chairman of Relief committee set up by the Zamfara State government to assist the citizenry, following Telecoms network shutdown, Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji has called on former Governor of Sokoto state, Dr Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa to tender apology to the state over his recent statement on palliative distribution.
According to Jaji, the former governor spoke out of ignorance on the distribution of Palliatives in the State.
Speaking during a meeting with local government chairmen and secretaries on Sunday at the government house in Gusau, Jaji said he hold Bafarawa in high esteem, and expressed disappointed over statement credited to him.
“I respect Bafarawa as a former governor, an elder and I want him to withdraw his statement on the issue in Zamfara.”
Continuing, Jaji said Bafarawa as a leader who knows governance, was not suppose to speak on some issues he doesn’t know.
“He spoke out of ignorance on Zamfara palliatives distribution” Jaji said.
During the meeting, he told local government committee members that Zamfara State government has procured 20 trucks of twenty five kilograms of rice to be distributed across the 14 local government areas of the State.
According to him, each local government would receive 1200 bags of rice with the exception of Gusau who would get 2400 bags considering its population as part of relief package to less privileged persons.
He stressed that the distribution of the palliatives would be free of any political interest.
He however warned members of the committee not to divert items for their personal use, saying government would not spare any one found wanting during the assignment.
