The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disbursed palliatives running into several millions of naira to over 70,000 affected victims of last year’s flood disaster in Jigawa state.
The Executive Secretary, Alh Sani Babura made this known in Dutse.
Briefing Newsmen at one of the distribution centres in Kiyawa, Babura said “we are expected to cover 39,000 affected victims in nineteen council’s in Jigawa state.
According to him “we are expected to cover nineteen local government areas, but presently we have covered seven. These are Babura, Birnin Kudu, Gwaram, Kiyawa, Kafin- Hausa, and Malam- Madori”
The palliatives distributed include, bags of Rice, Guinea Corn, Millet, Maize, blankets, buckets, mats, water pumps, chemicals, cash crops and seedlings.
It would be recalled that inhabitants of Jigawa state numbering over 70,000 households suffered severely last year, as a result of devastating flood which rendered households homeless, while large consignments of foodstuff were washed away by flood.
