Zamfara police rescue 4 students kidnapped while writing WAEC, 19 others

The zamfata state Police command have rescued 24 kidnapped victims including polytechnic student and 4 kidnapped students while writing WAEC in the State. 

The police also revealed that all the victims  were rescued without payment of ransom, after 60 days in captivity in Shinkafi and Tsafe local government areas in the State. 

Addressing newsmen on Tuesday evening, the police commissioner, Mr Ayuba Elkana said security operatives have been carrying out assaults on identified bandits locations in different parts of the state with a view to eliminating banditry in the State. 

“On 22 November, 2021, Police  at about 1900hrs, police tactical operatives deployed along Shinkafi axis while on  rescue  operations with regards to abduction of students of Birnin Yero and other victims acted on intelligence information and rescued the students  along with 8 others”.

According to the CP the abducted victims had spent 60 days in captivity and were unconditionally rescued following an extensive search and rescue operations by the security in the State. 

The Commissioner of Police while handing over the rescued victims to the  Representative of the Governor, the commissioner of information Ibrahim Magaji Dosara said, the new  security measures in the State have been yielding tremendous result

“Police tactical operations deployed to different locations of the State have succeeded in rescuing twenty four (24) kidnapped victims in Shinkafi and Tsafe local government areas respectively, among whom were 4 students of Government Day Secondary school Birnin Yero in Shinkafi who were writing WAEC exams and other student of federal polytechnic Kaura Namoda “.

“Also, on the 22rd November 2021, at about 3255hrs, our police tactical operatives deployed along Gusau /Tsafe  to Funtua road succeeded  in the unconditional rescue of 11 passengers who were abducted by armed bandits while traveling in the night about 2330hrs in a Golf vehicle”.

CP disclosed that all the rescued victims will be medically checked, under go police debriefing before handing them  and re unite with their families. 

He assured that, Police and other security agencies will continue to put in their best to ensure the return of lasting peace and security in the state.
