Zamfara Taskforce arrest syndicate of fake motorcycle number plates

The Zamfara State Task Force committee on banditry activities has arrested suspected syndicate of fake motorcycle number plates in the state.

Addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Gusau, chairman of the taskforce committee, Abubakar Mohammed Dauran said 4 suspects were arrested based on intelligence reports.  

He gave the name of the dealer as Ibrahim Rututu, saying that over 30 fake motorcycle numbers plates and fake documents were recovered from him during the operation.

According to him, during interrogation, the dealer confessed that he used to buy the fake number plates and particulars from Kaduna State and syndicate in large numbers to the State. 

The taskforce chairman revealed that some of the suspects who bought some of the numbers and  particulars were arrested.

“It was Following the investigation that the arrested suspects led the Taskforce to the dealer where he was apprehended.

“We suspect that the dealers were selling the fake numbers to bandits for their nefarious activities”.

Dauran disclosed that all the suspects have made confessional statements and would be handed over to relevant security for further investigation.

The dealer in an interview after they were paraded said they use to sell the motorcycle numbers plates and documents between N1500 and N2500 respectively.
