Jigawa state government is set to develop rural, urban centres and Five Emirates through the use of the Jigawa state Geography Information System (JGIS).
The state government has also allocated over 640,000 hectares of land for the development of industries that can bring about more job opportunities as well as boost the economy of the state.
Speaking at the Weekly Media Engagement Forum organized by the state Correspondents Chapel, the Commissioner of Land, Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Sagir Ahmed said vast land was also given for the new higher Institutions by federal government.
According to him 474,000 hectares of land was provided by the state government for the building of housing estate, pointing out that such housing estates was meant to provide accommodations for more people in the state.
The Commissioner said, food security has made Jigawa state to remain peaceful among the states in the federation. “Because, there are about 140 million hectares of land laying fallow for the use of farmers”.
He added that presently, 23,154 square km land and over two million hectares of land has been titled under the land management, and is available for use. 110,000 hectares of land has been allocated as forest reserved, while 220,000 as grazing reserved.
