The Deputy Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in charge of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states, Hajiya Zainab Lawan has said traditional rulers have greater role to play to curb the menace of insecurity in the zone.
Speaking at the award ceremony organized by the Nigeria Immigration Service Jigawa state command on Thursday, Zainab Lawan said traditional rulers in the zone are important in the area of security surveillance.
“The traditional rulers have to pay greater attention and set their eyes on who comes into their domains and who goes out of the areas. They have to know the type of movement going on in both rural and Urban areas as well as the villages”, she stressed.
She also urged officers of the Service, especially those who received awards through hard work, to redouble their steps and strive hard against challenges, while those yet to receive their awards should work towards achieving their goals.
Also the Comptroller of the Service in charge of Jigawa state command, Ibrahim Abba Aliyu said to strengthen the Service in various areas under the command, noted that shortly, the newly recruited men and women are going to be assigned to various places of work.
On the present insecurity situation in the zone, he called on other security agencies to joint hands to flush criminals out of the zone.
He used the occasion to appreciate the efforts of his men.
