A group under the aegis, Political Discuss has said the task of uniting youths in Nigeria requires collaboration with stakeholders, saying any country that undermine the interest of youths has mortgage its future.
The National coordinator of the group, Alhaji Umar Balogun made the disclosure at a one-day sensitization programme on peaceful coexistence, unity among Nigerian youths held on Saturday in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital.
He said the workshop was to create an avenue to interact and cross fertilise ideas.
Mr. Balogun explained that the political Discuss, is a platform of Nigerians of like minds, interested in the peace, unity and progress of the country.
“This program is to create an avenue to interact on cross fertilization of ideas, to promote peaceful coexistence, tranquility, productive mindsets, sustainable harmonious relationship and to advocate peaceful political activities and tolerance among youths “.
He maintained that the organization is also a platform to encourage youths to aspire to any elective positions in the country, rather than engage in endless agitations and communal conflict resulting to lost of lives.
“It is our dream and vision to inspire and persuade youths in Nigeria to actively participate in politics of principle and ideology and contribute to the development of the country”.
According to Balogun, the task of uniting youths in Nigeria requires collaboration with various groups such as elderstatemen, traditional, religious leaders and stakeholders that believe in one Nigeria.
“We must not allow tribal sentiments, religious intolerance, sectionalism, regionalism, nepotism and ideological difference to hinder our unity”.
He stressed that it was time for youths to know the potency of power they have and understand that there is strength in unity.
