Zamfara CJ inaugurates 7-man panel to investigate state Dep. Gov

The chief judge of Zamfara State, Justice Kulu Aliyu has inaugurated 7-man panel that would investigate allegations against the State Deputy Governor Barrister Mahadi Aliyu Mohammed Gusau. 

Inaugurating the panel on Monday at the  high court in Gusau, the state chief judge said the committee was sworn in based on the power vested on her.


The chief judge revealed that section 188(5) of the1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as amended has provided that chief to constitute panel base on the request of the speaker of the house of Assembly.

“We are gathered today for the discharge of one of the constitutional responsibilities vested in the chief judge of the State, section 188(5)of the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended ) provides. 


“within seven days of the passing of a motion under the foregoing provision of this section, the chief judge of the State shall at the request of the speaker of the State house of Assembly appoint a panel of seven persons who in his opinion are unquestionably integrity,not being members of any public service, legislative house or political party to investigate the allegations as provided in this section”.

According to chief judge, based on the constitutional provision, she received a letter of request from speaker Zamfara State house of Assembly Nasiru Muazu Magarya with reference no.ZAMH/SPK/G/2022/002 dated 10th feburary, 2022 to constitute panel to investigate the allegations against the deputy Governor Barrister Mahadi Aliyu Mohammed Gusau. 

“Pursuant to the resolution passed by the Zamfara State house of Assembly in its sitting no.121 of Thursday the 10th of February, 2022.”

She revealed that members of the panel were careful selected base on the records.

“I have therefore, after careful consideration of your track rec8as persons of proven integrity appointed you for this arduous task believing that you will discharge your duty without fear of favour,affection or ill will in accordance with the oath you have just taken “. 

Those Inaugurated included justice Halidu Tanko soba retired as chairman, Oladipo Okpeseyi SAN,Abdul Atadoga Ibrahim SAN, Hussaini Zakariyau SAN, Amina Tanimu Marafa,Alhaji Sani Mande and Ahmad Buhari Rabah to serve as members.

In his acceptance speech, the chairman of the panel retired justice Halidu Tanko Soba assured to do justice in the assignment given to them in the State.
