Igbobi College Old Boys Association (ICOBA) on Wednesday, extolled the virtues of Sen. Yisa Briamoh ahead of his 80th birthday celebration.

The President of ICOBA, Olumuyiwa Kinoshi, in a congratulatory message in Abuja, recalled the former lawmaker’s giant strides as a student during his school days.

Kinoshi said Briamoh, who was a member of the school football team (The Rockets), was loved by his skillful play.

He described the senator, who represented Edo North Senatorial District in the 6th National Assembly, as “a successful businessman, politician and a quintessential gentleman.”

The president also described Briamoh as “a jolly good fellow and an old Igbobian and a noble Nigeria.”

In the same vein, the former Inspector-General (I-G) of Police, Solomon Arase, in his goodwill message, described Briamoh’s  “brilliance in the articulation of governance, public administration and political engineering as remarkable.

“Beyond this, your detribalised disposition, patriotism, broad natural reach, humility, selflessness and firm vision for a strong and prosperous nation stand you out as a national revelation, an indefatigable icon and worthy influence point in the discourse on true leadership.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Forum of Non-Serving Senators also felicitated the ex-lawmaker.

The forum, in a congratulatory letter by Dr. Emeka Donald Wachukwu, described him as “a great inspiration to humanity.”

“The PDP non-serving senators rejoice with your distinguished senator as you celebrate your 80th birthday.

“You have been a great inspiration to humanity and your legacies of service to our country, Nigeria, cannot be over-emphasised,” it said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sen. Briamoh, who will turn 80 on Aug. 12, has unveiled plan to award scholarships to some children at the Halal Children’s Orphanage Home, Lugbe in Abuja.
