Jigawa state Governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar on Wednesday said presently, Nigerian is over 200 million people and the seventh most populated nation in the world.
Badaru stated this while declaring open the Population and Housing Census stakeholders summit organized by the National Population Commission (NPC), in Dutse.
Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Umar Namadi he said the state government is ready to provide a favourable environment for the successful exercise in 2023.
He told the gathering that the state government will provide all the needed supports it can, to make the exercise success and less stressful for both the staff and the citizens.
Similarly, Commissioner in charge of Jigawa state office of the NPC, Alhaji Abubakar Garba said the aim of the summit, was to create awareness and prepare the minds of the stakeholders in view of the forthcoming National headcount.
He explained that, the exercise is now fully digitalized with modern equipments, supported with special instruments that can make the exercise accurate and acceptable all over the world.
Speaking on behalf of the Civil Society Organizations in the state, Comrade Mohammed Musba’u Bashirka appealed to the authorities saddled with the responsibility of registering the citizens, to reopen the 16 registration centres that were closed down across the state.
