The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governorship candidate in Jigawa state, Dr Mustapha Lamido has said his administration will provide free Education for the girl child up to secondary school if elected the Governor in 2023.
The PDP’s Governorship candidate made this known in a statement signed by Deputy Director of Publicity PDP campaign directorate, Malam Umar Kyari Jitau on Tuesday, while commomerating the International Girl child day celebration.
Mustapha Sule Lamido felicitated and rejoiced with all the girls in Jigawa State in particular and Nigeria in general on this special occasion.
“I have earlier stated in my vision for Jigawa State which is already in the public domain that if elected, I will provide free Education for the girl child up to secondary school.
“Girls that are orphans will have their sponsorship extended up to Tertiary Institutions. Scholarships will be paid for students of special and professional programmes in the field of Medicine, Engineering, Law and other key programmes”.
“First class graduates will be considered for automatic employment. Regards to health sector, we will sponsor the training of the girl child to address the shortage of female medical personnel”, he added.
He explained that access to education, health care services, skills based learning facilities and economic empowerment are keys to the safety of the girl child and safeguard against gender based violence.
“The safety and development of the girl child is our collective responsibility towards mankind and a better future”, he concluded.
