Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar said Jigawa state government has injected N1 billion into the Jigawa-Cares programme to complement the N700 million contributed by federal government and the World bank.
Badaru stated this on Tuesday while flagging off the implementation of the Covid-19 action recovery and economic stimulus programs known as “J-cares programs” in Dutse.
The Governor, who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Umar Namadi explained that the NG- CARES programme was initiated by federal government and assisted by the world Bank and implemented in partnership with state government.
“The program was initiated to address the socio-economic disruptions and hardship caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, where the number of extreme poverty is likely to increase by 10 to 15 million by 2022”, he added.
Also the Commissioner, Special Duties, Alhaji Auwalu Sankara said that the total beneficiaries of the programme are 4,520, saying, the Agricultural inputs and services, DLI 2.1 has 3,000 beneficiaries.
Auwalu further explaind that the labour Intensive Agricultural Infrastructures tagged DLI 2.2 has 1,520 beneficiaries among others.
“For today’s official launching of this programme, 1,580 bags of NPK and 790 bags of Urea Fertilizers with 1,580 litres of Agro chemicals will be given to 790 farmers under DLI 2.1”, Sankara concluded.
