The Legislative Aides of the 9th National Assembly have thrown their weight behind member representing Ibadan North federal constituency, Honourable Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban) for the office of the Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
Rising from a meeting on Monday, the legislative aides said the decision followed brief consultation on the candidature of the lawmaker.
Specifically, the group said the quest for democratic dividends among the people of Nigeria and its regions calls for balance equation of power and accommodation of various interest.
The Legislative Aides in a statement by Bola Adeyemo and made available to SINL Nigeria Online noted that at the end of thorough consultation, Hon. Akinremi emerged as the most qualified for the position of the Deputy Speaker.
They affirmed that any support for Akinremi will further equate the agitation by the six geo-political zone in electing principal officers of the party in the 10th National Assembly.
“Members-elect with track records and competency should be saddled with responsibility of piloting affairs of National Assembly for the next four years.
“The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his Vice-President-elect, Sen. Kassim Shettima and the APC, National Working Committee members have shown more commitment about who become principal officers and will not disappoint Nigerians who trusted, APC with majority votes in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.”
It would be recalled that the APC hierarchy has organised a meeting on Monday 13th March, to address issues bothering on leadership in the 10th Assembly, saying such a move is sensitive and commendable to avert any controversy in electing principal officers.
