NGO mulls dismantle of all borders in African continent

The Coordinator of Save Nigeria Now in Jigawa state, Mrs Maryam Ibrahim has called on the relevant member countries in Africa to allow a free movement of goods and services.

She said this will foster rapid economic development and prosperity in the continent.

Save Nigeria now in collaboration with Jigawa State ministry of Commerce and supported by Africans Rising is pushing for a borderless African continent.

The Coordinator made the call while briefing journalists on Thursday at the conference Hall of the Ministry of commerce, Dutse, Jigawa state capital.

Mrs Ibrahim said the African countries can only have a common stand in the world when all border barriers and blockades are removed and allow a free movement under the law to promote trades and investments.

She said as the continent mark the African Liberation week, civil society organizations, Unions and other relevant stakeholders from governments are enlightened on the need for the borderless continent.

“Private institutions have been mobilized by Africans Rising which brings about over 500 actions and events across the continent and the diaspora, embarking on a collective journey towards a liberated and Borderless Africa”, Mrs Ibrahim said.

“Our commitment to promoting African Liberation and unity is truly needful to this transformative movement.

“By fostering a spirit of collaboration and break down, the barriers that divide us, we can create a brighter future for all Africans”, Mrs Ibrahim added.

She said to amplify the call for a borderless Africa, she urged relevant stakeholders to intensify effort to add their voices for free movement of persons in Cognisance of the laws of Host member state.

“Together, we can have the potential to achieve remarkable progress for Africa, by Nurturing collaboration, understanding, and a sense of belonging”, She concluded.
