In a keenly contested election on Tuesday, Senator Godswill Akpabio emerged the 10th Senate President.
Akpabio polled 63 votes to defeat former governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari who scored 45 votes.
Prior to the election, Akpabio was nominated by Senator Ali Ndume and seconded by Sen. Adeola Olamilekan, while Senator Ishaku Abbo nominated Abdulaziz Yari.
