NDLEA intercepts 999.335 kgs of Narcotic drugs, Psychotropic substance in Jigawa

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Jigawa state Command has intercepted 999.335 kgs of Narcotic and Psychotropic substance from June 2022 to June 2023.

Briefing journalists at the  command headquarters in Dutse, on Thursday, the Commandant Mr Mu’azu Aliyu Dan Musa said 422 suspects were also arrested within the year. 

He said the theme of this year’s  occasion is “People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention” against the drug addicts.

Dan Musa explained that among the 422 suspects arrested in one year, 409 were males and 13 were females.

According to him 94 drug addicts were convicted in the state, while 186 suspects were counselled, even as 15 clients were rehabilitated.

“Four clients are presently undergoing rehabilitation in our centre here in Dutse.

“The command also embarked on War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaign at the motor parks, schools, tertiary institutions across the state as part of preventive measures against drug abuse and trafficking”, the Commandant concluded.
