A former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido has blamed the northern political class for alleged failures and woes in governance that negatively affected the common man in northern Nigeria.
Lamido stated this on Saturday while fielding questions from reporters shortly after a book launch held at the Manpower Development Institute (MDI), in Dutse.
The book written by a politician, Comrade Umar Dajani and titled “Kura Kuran Talakawan Arewa A Siyasar Najeriya”, the mistakes of northern masses in politics was launched on Saturday in Dutse.
The one time Governor said presently the ordinary man cannot be blamed for anything, because whatever he does, is an imitation of what the leaders and the political class in the north are doing.
“If you have children, they always imitate and copy what you do, good or bad. So we cannot blame the ordinary man for anything, because they do what they see what their leaders are doing”, Lamido explained.
Lamido, who was the chairman of the occasion at the book launch faulted the inconsistency in politics, dishonesty among politicians.
“The politicians frustrated ‘Talakawa’, the ordinary man and force them to lose confidence in the present system of politics”, Lamido added.
He observed that, the current literacy level in the society and political awareness is higher than it was in the past.
“Presently the problem of the ordinary man in the north is who to trust as a leader”, he added.
