Zamfara state House of Assembly has debunked purported impeachment of the Speaker, Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki.

A widely publicised report had suggested that the Speaker was impeached due to his lukewarm attitude towards security challenges confronting the state.

But the Chief Press Secretary of the House, Bello Madaro Kurya in a statement debunked the report, saying the Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Honourable Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, the deputy speaker, Honourable Adamu Aliyu Gummi and other principal officers are in charge.

It added that the principal officers were constitutionally voted in by the honourable members of the Seventh Assembly during its inaugural sitting in June last year, and are still overseeing affairs of the Assembly.

“By this information therefore, the general public is hereby advised to note that there is no constitutional threat to the leadership of the present Seventh Assembly of the Zamfara State House of Assembly”

The statement said “further development on the issue will be communicated in due course as the house leadership continue to address its internal rancour”.
