Senator Anthony Ani (Ebonyi South) has said the late minister of science and technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu was a willing instrument that God used to bring about the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the lawmaker, the late minister brought his ideas and concepts about what he had in mind for Nigeria to becoming a better place through the instrumentality of the party.
Ani, who spoke on Thursday in Abuja said late Ogbonnaya Onu’s concept was perfect and true.
“God uses instruments to cause the existence of anything. He was a willing instrument that God used to bring about APC. It could have been any other person but he did well. He brought his ideas and concepts about what he had in mind for Nigeria to becoming a better place through the instrumentality of the party. So his concept was perfect and true” he said.
The Nigerian Senate had earlier on Wednesday paid tribute to the late minister during plenary in a motion raised by Senator Ani.
“Well, I feel fulfilled that people were able to see the way I saw him because he was a man of the people, an icon, a man of integrity.
“He was filled with brilliant intellectual capacity. He was a Universal Man. Democrats all over the world, gives kudos to him. So I was satisfied that everybody is seeing him the way I saw him. It means I was right” Senator Ani said.
On how the nation can immortalise him, Senator Ani said the senate has made recommendation to the federal government, “so it is now left for federal government to immortalise him using institutions, using things of global recognition”.
Speaking on the South East Development Commission, he said if implemented, it will help in the development of the region, even as he explained that the panacea to insecurity in the region is to educate the youths.
“Education can also help in combating criminality and insurgency, if people are well educated, they will be thinking of good things to do and not negative things”.
He added that those who are involved in this insurgency and banditry if check did not go to school or some of them are not properly educated.
