Jigawa State Government has set aside N1.2 billion to renovate and upgrade 32 health facilities across the 30 state constituencies.
The state government has also made adequate plan for free medical treatment including dialysis to kidney patients at five designated health centres in the state.
This was disclosed by Dr Abdullahi Kainuwa, state Commissioner for Health while speaking to reporters over the weekend in Dutse.
He said the resolution was reached last week during the state executive council meeting held at government house Dutse.
“The state government has approved the award of contract for the establishment of the dialysis centres in Dutse and Ringim general Hospitals.
“The state executive council has also approved N1.5 billion for the renovation and upgrading of 32 health facilities across the 30 constituency in the state.
“While the installation of the dialysis machines and other equipments is at advance stage in Hadejia, Kazaure and Gumel general hospitals.
“The gesture is part of the 12 point agenda of Governor Malam Umar Namadi which include access to healthcare services for all people of the state at all levels irrespective of social and economic status,” Kainuwa stressed.
He further explained that Governor Namadi is determined to ensure no person die in Jigawa because of medical bills.
He said the Governor is committed to make healthcare services accessible and affordable for all Jigawa citizens, saying he is ready to invest to achieve the desire goals.
He said to achieve the desire goals, state government last month recruited 1,100 health workers including 200 doctors, Pharmacies and Nurses.
He added that the renovation and upgrading include all the existing Health facilities constructed since 1970s without any major renovation or upgrading in the state.
“The renovation and upgrading is targeted to ensure the facilities provide 24 hours services to meet up with growing demand of healthcare services”.
