Elegushi inaugurates screening of applications, inspection of offices of licensed tour operators

(SINL NIGERIA) The Commissioner of Operations, Inspectorate and Licensing, Prince Anofie Olarenwaju Elegushi on Tuesday inaugurated screening of applications, inspection of offices of licensed tour operators.

The Screening of Application Committee will be headed by Alhaji Alidu Shutti, and the Inspection of Nationwide Offices Committee will be led by Alhaji Abdul-Ghaffar. 

According to the NAHCON Act 4, Section 1, as quoted by the Commissioner, the Commission is saddled with the responsibility to license, regulate, supervise, and perform oversight functions over organizations, associations (corporate or non-corporate), or similar bodies engaged in both Hajj and Umrah activities.

The Commissioner reminded the committees of their importance in handling such a vital role and representing the Commission. 

He urged them to be upright and to carry out their duties without sentiment or compromise. 

He stated that all screened companies must have the required documents before they are qualified.

He further appealed to the committee members to be mindful of time, as the Commission needs to keep pace with the 2025 Hajj calendar. 

He urged them to work diligently and efficiently to fast-track the entire process to achieve the desired objectives.

Additionally, he wished them safety and protection on their nationwide tour. Alhaji Elegushi also reminded them that their reports would be strictly adhered to and must be accurate and reliable, saying  the Commission relies on them.

Alhaji Abdul-Ghaffar, head of the inspection team, in his response, expressed gratitude to the Commission for considering the committee members worthy of this assignment. 

He promised to be diligent and efficient in delivering the task entrusted to them and assured that they would complete it within the specified time frame.
