(SINL NIGERIA) A British Court has ordered the British police to release $100m malaria vaccine research fund back to Senator Ned Nwoko, the senator representing Delta North senatorial district.
The court gave the order for the release of the fund to the lawmaker’s lawyer, saying it is a legitimate proceed that rightly belong to Senator Nwoko.
It would be recalled that the British government had frozen an account containing $100m meant for research of malaria Vaccine by Senator Nwoko.
Indeed, the British police intercepted the fund when it reportedly observed that fraudsters sought to swindle the senator, and consequently froze the account.
But irked by non release of the fund after the protection by the British police, Senator Nwoko went to British court to contest the action.
Speaking at a media parley for the examination of critical overview of five of his bills held Friday in Abuja, Nwoko said “we went to court to contest it (frozen account) on Tuesday”.
He said “At the end, the court said am Ned Nwoko and ordered that the money ($100m)) be release to my lawyers within 7 days”.
According to Senator Nwoko, British justice system and police is dependable.
He explained that it has been his ambition to have vaccine for malaria and how to protect Africans.
“We have vaccine for COVID, why can’t our government have vaccine for malaria, I always feel there should be vaccine for malaria.
“For the white man, it is business (malaria), that is why they are not bothered for malaria vaccine.
“I have spent $60m on trials for malaria vaccine” he said.
He added that there are credible Nigerians living abroad, but bemoaned that few bad ones were giving the nation bad press, stressing “we must showcase the good ones if we have the opportunity”.
