(SINL NIGERIA) The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing in Edo State has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to caution the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Igbodaro, regarding the conduct of his supporters during the ongoing election tribunal proceedings.
This call comes amidst reports that the PDP candidate plans to disrupt the tribunal proceedings, as alleged thugs loyal to him invaded the court premises last week.
The APC Youth Wing warned that any attempts to disrupt the tribunal’s activities would be met with strong resistance.
They emphasized that Edo voters have already made their decision clear at the polls and expressed confidence in the integrity and legitimacy of the election result.
According to Kelly Okungbowa, a member of the APC Youth Wing, “We call on the IGP to ensure that the rule of law is upheld and to protect the tribunal’s proceedings from unruly behavior.”
Youth leaders Monday Irabor and Adams Ehi stressed that the PDP should not disrupt the peace in the state, noting that the APC will not sit back and watch some elements disrupt the progress experienced since Governor Monday Okpebholo’s swearing-in.
The APC Youth Wing reiterated their commitment to a peaceful and fair electoral process and their readiness to defend the democratic rights of Edo citizens.
“As the situation unfolds, both parties are urged to maintain civility and respect for the legal framework governing elections in Nigeria, ensuring the tribunal functions without interference”.
