(SINL NIGERIA) The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially flagged off the Greater Dutse Water Supply Project, worth N59.4 billion, in Siltilmawa Village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The project aims to provide adequate and clean water to residents of Dutse, the state capital, to address the perennial water scarcity that has plagued the area.
Speaking at the project site, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utseve, said conceived 24 years ago, the project is finally being actualized by the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has funded the project to provide basic necessities of life to the people of Jigawa State.
He added that the project will be completed within 24 months and provide 10 million liters of water.
He added that the project includes the construction of a 10,000 meters-based concrete reservoir and housing quarters, will be executed by Jidadu Ventures Limited.
According to the minister, the project is expected to bring significant development to the state and improve the lives of its residents.
The State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, commended the federal government’s commitment to fulfilling President Tinubu’s campaign promise to the late Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Mohammadu Sanusi, in 2023.
The Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, pledged the Emirate’s support for the project, expressing his wish that his late father, Nuhu Mohammadu Sanusi, was alive to witness the actualization of his long-term dream.
