(SINL NIGERIA) The Chairman National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman formally expressed gratitude to Allah for making it possible to appoint a Secretary to the Commission, acknowledging the rigorous process involved. 

He welcomed Dr. Mustapha Ali, emphasizing the crucial role he would play in addressing the Commission’s needs. 

The Chairman highlighted Dr. Ali’s extensive experience, particularly in the Hajj industry, and his proficiency in the Arabic language, which would be essential for his duties in Saudi Arabia.

Professor Usman expressed confidence in Dr. Ali’s capabilities, assuring him of the full cooperation of the Commission and urged him to work diligently to enhance the Commission’s operations. 

He concluded by praying for Allah’s guidance and support in Dr. Ali’s new responsibilities.

During the occasion, Director in Charge of Administration Alhaji Bukar Babagana provided an overview of the responsibilities associated with the Secretary’s position. He explained that the selection process was rigorous, with 19 applicants screened, and Dr. Mustapha Ali emerged as the top candidate.

The Secretary’s role, Alhaji Babagana explained include:

Serving as the Secretary of both the Executive Committee (Exco) and the Board, Maintaining records of all proceedings, Overseeing the Secretariat, both locally and offshore during Hajj operations.

Others include, Preparing and presenting annual reports to the President, Managing interactions with key stakeholders, including states and tour operators and many others.

The Director emphasized that the position is highly demanding but expressed confidence in Dr. Ali’s ability to perform his duties effectively.

Dr. Mustapha Ali as an accomplished individual with experience in politics, administration, and academia. 

He previously served as a lecturer, head of departments, and a member of Borno State University. 

He encouraged Dr. Ali to view the Commission as a family working for the sake of Allah. 

He assured him of the dedication and support of the Commission’s staff in fulfilling the responsibilities of his office.

On his part, Dr. Mustapha Ali expressed gratitude for his appointment and acknowledged the warm welcome from the Commission. 

He recalled his previous involvement with the Commission, emphasizing that managing Hajj operations is a collaborative effort requiring input from all levels of staff. 

Dr Ali assured the Chairman and Commissioners of his commitment, diligence, and dedication to his duties. 

He thanked everyone who played a role in his appointment and prayed for Allah’s guidance in fulfilling his responsibilities.

Delivering his closing remarks, Commissioner PPMF, Abdulrazak Aliu praised the Commission for maintaining high operational standards expressing confidence that Dr. Mustapha Ali’s appointment would further strengthen the organization.

He encouraged the new Secretary to embrace his role as an act of ibadah (worship) and a trust (amana) from Allah. 

He advised him to approach his duties with sincerity and dedication while assuring him of the unwavering support of the Commission’s staff.

The welcome ceremony, held at the Board Room of Hajj House, Abuja, on March 3, 2025, was a formal yet warm occasion, marking the beginning of Dr. Mustapha Ali’s tenure as Secretary of the Commission. 

The event showcased the Commission’s commitment to excellence, teamwork, and service in the administration of Hajj operations.
