EndSARS Protest: Magashi, Nanono Appeal to Emir of Kano to intervene

Ministers of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development,  Muhammad Sabo Nanono have appealed to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero to join the vanguard of ending the youths protests in the state.


 A statement signed by Mohammed Abdulkadri, Special Assistant Media and Publicity to the Honourable Minister of Defence and made available to SINLNigeria said the appeal was made during a courtesy call on the Emir of Kano in his Palace by the Ministers who were on the working tour to their constituency on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari. 


This visit was aimed at complimenting the efforts of the state government in achieving lasting peace in their area of responsibility as Chief Security Officer.  The Ministers who described the monarch as a peace loving Nigerian and a resourceful peacemaker appealed to him to throw his weight behind the current efforts of  President Buhari and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to achieve enduring peace in the state.


The ministers acknowledged that the traditional institution offers a wide range of network to reach out to a large percentage of the youths, however urged the monarch to prevail on the youths to toe the paths of peace and prosperity by taking advantage of the  entrepreneurial programmes of the present administration for a secured future.


Similarly, the ministers identified the roles of the village, district and community heads as well as chieftaincy title holders under the umbrella of the command and control structures of the Emir, as a veritable structure to leverage on to spread the message of peace to the youths, to shun acts capable of threatening the sanctity of the nation.

In his remarks, the Emir of Kano,  Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero thanked President Muhammadu Buhari  for assigning Ministers to their constituencies to play a critical role in the peace building and peace sustaining process aimed at redirecting the footsteps of the teeming youths to key into profitable ventures.

 
While assuring them of his cooperation and collaboration to end the regime of youths protests that have engendered unfortunate repercussions for national interest added that his doors are open for regular consultation and advice.


The monarch prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of the nation, kano state and prayed for an end to the global pandemic of Covid-19.


The visitation to the emir Palace by the Ministers which came after an elaborate stakeholders peace parley dovetailed into wide range closed doors consultations by the Minister of Defence with elders and leaders of thought as well as strategic meeting with the representatives of various youth groups in the state.
