Bye- election: 14 political parties sign Peace Accord in Zamfara State

Ahead of Bakura state constituency bye election,14 political parties in Zamfara State have signed peace agreement for  free, fair and peaceful conduct of the election.


It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) has fixed Saturday, December 5th, 2020 for pending bye elections across the country.


Speaking during the agreement, attended by all the participating parties for the bye-election, Thursday in Bakura town, the state commissioner of police Usman Nagoggo, who chaired the meeting said heads of security agencies would remain apolitical in the state.


He however appealed to political parties who will participate in the bye-election to be law abiding and conduct themselves during the excersise.


“There is need for all political parties to control their supporters for a free and fair by election.”


The police commissioner however, expressed satisfaction with the way and manner campaign rallies were going on in the area.


“We have expressed our gratitude to all political parties on the way they conducted their campaign rallies, we have not recorded any misconduct from any of the poitical parties”.


He maintained that security would be provided to cover all the 104 poling units during the exercise.


The Zamfara State Resident Electoral Commissioner REC, Hajiya Amina Maikudi, appealed to all political parties to respect covid-19 protocol during the  election.


Among the participating political parties that attended the peace Accord include APC, PDP, NRM, AA and APGA among others.
