A former Governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has urged supporters of All Progressive Congress (APC) to be law abiding and protect their votes during the Bakura state constituency bye election on Saturday.

This comes as the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 10 Headquarters Sokoto, AIG Muhammed A. Mustapha announced the death of two persons during campaign rally at Bakura town.

The AIG made the disclosure during a media briefing at the Bakura Police Station shortly after he met supporters of the two major political parties; APC and PDP.

According to him, one person was killed on Wednesday and another killed on Thursday, saying there are strong indications that more crises would be ignited if the political rallies are allowed to go on.

He however noted that, police will not allow its primary responsibility of securing the lives and properties to be hijacked by some mischief makers who are not interested in sustaining the relative peace enjoyed by the people of the state.

The AIG further said, police and other sister security agencies will meet with all stakeholders to dialogue on the possible ways to ensure that the scheduled bye election is conducted without breach of law and order.

He called on the people of Bakura area to remain law abiding, adding that security is being worked ahead of the Saturday bye election.
