The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti Corruption, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, at the Weekend in Sokoto stressed the importance of education and pledged to continue to support Islamic propagation, as well as the studies, recitation and memorization of the Glorious Qur’an.
Wamakko spoke at the launch of three books written by a renowned Islamic Cleric, Dr Jabir Sani Mai-hula of the Sokoto state University.
Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Wa Iqamatus Sunnah, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, commended the Author, just as he described Islam as the religion of peace and not fundamentalism.
Similarly, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, who concurred with Lau, also promised to continue to sustain the ongoing publications of the books written by the founders of the Sokoto Caliphate.
The Sultan was elated that, the Muslim Ummah was united, disclosing that, the Sultanate Council was partnering the Sokoto State University, with a view to commence Caliphate Studies.
Also speaking, Governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stated that, the books will help in enlightening the people globally, saying Islam is a religion of peace, and not violence or fundamentalism.
He promised that, the Sokoto State Government will partner the various Islamic Clerics, with a view to change the obnoxious negative narratives against Islam and Muslims.
The Author, Dr Jabir Sani Mai-hula, Head of Department, Islamic Studies, Sokoto State University, as well as Chief Imam, Sultan Sa’ad Juma’at Mosque, Gwiwa Low cost, Sokoto, said his gesture was to contribute to the growth and development of Islam.
The three books launched were: Ibn Taimiyya in the literature of Contemporary Jihadists, Tabdili Sunnatu, Mursalu Ilal Jannat and another one on it’s Hausa Translation.
In all, a total of over N92million was raised both in cash and pledges at the books’ launch.
