The Chairman Senate committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, FCA, representing Ondo Central at the Senate, on Tuesday sought Senate President’s approval to lay five Petitions brought to the office of the Senate President, in accordance with Order 41 (1 and 3) of the Senate Standing Rule.
The Petitioners are seeking Justice through the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, a standing Committee of the Senate chaired by Senator Ayo Akinyelure.
Charles Akinwon, SA (Media & Strategy) to the Senator made this known in a statement made available to SINL Nigeria Online on Tuesday.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the plenary session, Akinyelure, who is also refered to as the Ombudsman of the Senate by his colleagues said, “My Committee is here to get Justice for the oppressed and to wipe out tears from the faces of the less privilege Nigerians whose fundamental Human Rights have been infringed upon”.
Akinyelure added that what gives him joy most is when he sees petitioner leaving his Committee a happy man or woman.
Meanwhile, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions have invited some petitioners and respondents to appear before the Committee on Thursday, 29th April, 2021 by 1pm at the Public Hearing Room 120, New Senate Building, Abuja.
