(SINL NIGERIA) The Zamfara State chairman of All Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Hon. Samaila Muhammad Kongomi, has lamented that no matter the resources invested into health sector, the sector cannot improve without accountability and punctuality.
He stated this at a meeting on Primary Health Care Services at the Command Guest Inn in Gusau, the State capital.
Kongomi wondered how a health worker would be living in Zurmi or other places, hundreds of kilometers and be coming to work in Gusau on daily basis.
“We cannot tolerate health workers to be living far from their duty posts”, he stated.
In his remarks, Alhaji Sambo A. Sambo, representing the Gusau Emirate, also addressed the health workers, advising them to separate politics and insecurity from their work.
In his Comment, State Coordinator, World Health Organization, WHO, Dr. Raji Congratulated Zamfara State for the Political commitment towards Health Sector at State and now at Local Government Areas level.
He said that this was the missing link and pledged continued support of WHO towards the government’s plans to improving the health indicators of the State.
The program was organized by Zamfara State ministry of Health, and attracted health experts and stakeholders.
