The family of a 9-year-old boy, Ahmad Yakubu who was allegedly killed by suspected cannibal in Zamfara state is seeking for the intervention of the Attorney General of the federation.
SINL Nigeria Online correspondent gathered that the family has lamented over what they called delay of justice.
Addressing newsmen on Wednesday at the NUJ press center, Gusau, spokesman for the family Salisu Abdulrahman said the call became necessary following five months of deadlock on the matter at the court.
“The incident was reported in the media in the last five months in the state, we need justice, after three sittings at the magistrate court in Gusau, there was no headway to the case”.
According to him, the delay in justice was allegedly caused by some influencers who are reportedly manipulating the trial.
“Neither the state government nor security agency in the state has said anything about the trial of Aminu Baba who was alleged to have killed and ate body parts of 9-year-old Ahmad Yakubu (Victim)” he said.
The family, therefore called on the Attorney General and minister of Justice, Civil Society Organisations to intervene and do justice to the family of the deceased Ahmad Yakubu.
It would be recalled that the Zamfara state police command on the 4th of January, 2022, acted on an intelligence report and arrested four suspects in connection with the murder.
Those arrested included, Aminu Baba, Abdulshakur Moh’d, Abdullahi Buba and Ahmad Tukur.
Exhibits recovered according to the police included “intestine, esophagus, human private part (male) and two (2) eyes”.
During interrogation, one of the suspects, Abdulshakur Moh’d confessed that this was the third time he was contracted by the first suspect Aminu Baba to source for human parts at the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000).
Moh’d further confessed that he and two others deceived the victim, took him to an uncompleted building, killed him, and removed the following human parts; intestine, esophagus, private part, and two (2) eyes.
Aminu Baba revealed that he usually eats the human parts and sells some.
