The All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial candidate in the 2023 election, for Jigawa Central, Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya is dead.
According to reports he died in a hospital in China after he was admitted in a private hospital in Abuja some weeks back.
Gaya was a former member of the House of Representatives, and represented Dutse/Kiyawa federal constituency for two terms; he however decamped to ruling APC after losing election in 2015.
In his condolence message, Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar expressed shock over the demise of the senatorial candidate.
The Governor, described late Tijjani Gaya as “a man of honour, a great leader, and a role model to the younger generation who sacrificed his whole life to serve the common man”.
Top politicians have sent their condolences to the bereaved family, including the PDP Governorship candidate, Mustapha Lamido and Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu.
