The Bauchi State auditor-general, Alhaji Abdu Aliyu has escaped death following gun shot and failed abduction attempt Saturday evening.
But his 25-year-old son and one fifty-year-old man who were said to be travelling along with him were kidnapped.
The Bauchi State police public relations officer DSP Ahmed Wakili confirmed the incident, which he said happened along Kardam village of Tafawa Balewa local government area.
Wakili said the auditor-general’s vehicle appeared to have been trailed while on his way to his village in Tafawa Balewa local government area by gunmen who opened fire on the vehicle and shot the auditor-general at close range after he resisted kidnap.
He was rushed to the general hospital in Tafawa Balewa by passers-by and later transferred to the trauma center in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.
The police said efforts are underway to rescue the victims and arrest perpetrators.
